Classic Black and White Period, 1967-1992

My First Twenty-Five Years

My photographic foundation was "tripod and meditation" camerawork with Rolleiflex and Hasselblad, woith my own custom film developing and printing. Even when hand held, the idea was to heroically compose every shot in the camera.

I started out making classic black and white landscapes, and gradually developed my first thematic exhibit, of Ancient Forest Remnants of Southwest Washington, where I lived.

A job with the Washington State Archives took me into portraiture, often 35mm, and copy work, on both state and local projects.

Below are hints of this era. A more thorough posting will be a project for another year.
